Deborah Kaczynski, Senior Administrative Director at UPMC Mercy, presents on “perfecting patient flow through real time demand capacity management” teaches staff how to improve overall patient flow in the hospital through proper predictions and planning. No more surprises with too few or too many beds at the end of the day. Patients are placed at the right level of care in a timely fashion. This process not only allows for a decrease in ED and PACU holds, but can also help to easily identify barriers to success. Overcoming these barriers leads to measurably improved work that is both focused and valuable.
