New Tools Increase Availability of Hospital Patient Flow Research Resources

Salt Lake City, UT, July 31, 2014 – Hospital leaders looking for resources to help them optimize operations, increase patient flow, and improve fiscal performance now have new research tools available to them.  The Patient Flow Summit, an annual conference focused on helping hospitals improve efficiencies, recently made it easier to search its archive of past Summit presentations.

The enhancements found at Patient Flow Summit’s website enable healthcare professionals to browse through abstracts of past presentations as well as search by key terms to find available content.  Hospital leaders can download presentation materials from the past five years and watch presentation videos from the past four events.

The Summit presentation materials cover a broad range of patient flow related topics including optimizing flow, healthcare reform, managing variability, care coordination, length of stay (LOS), readmissions reduction, physician engagement, capacity management and transfer center design.  Presentations address basic and advanced topics, often sharing real world examples of how hospitals have streamlined operations.

Past Summits have featured speakers from hospitals, healthcare organizations, and solution vendors such as Institute for Healthcare Optimization (IHO), Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Cleveland Clinic, UPMC, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, GE Healthcare, Intel, UMass Memorial Medical Center, Huron Consulting, Press Ganey, AHA Solutions, Robert Wood Johnson, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Presbyterian Healthcare, and Sutter Health.

“Each year, we see large numbers of Summit attendees go online to watch the videos and review the presentation materials,” Derek Hays, Executive Director of the Patient Flow Summit, explained. “We made the changes to the Summit website to make this content more accessible to anyone involved with improving patient flow in their hospital systems—not just Summit attendees.”

Founding sponsor of the Patient Flow Summit, Central Logic, also sponsored the new search functionality and co-hosts the Summit content.
