The ROI on our Transfer Center Solution
When we talk with hospitals about our transfer center solution, Central Logic ForeFront™, I'm commonly asked how to value it. The value, or return on investment, for Forefront is relatively straightforward for U.S. hospitals and systems.
Several hospitals have indicated to us that the average profit generated from a critical care transfer is between $8,000 and $10,000. If we take a more conservative approach and average in all admissions (such as basic medical care, transfers from skilled nursing facilities, direct admissions from physician offices, and not-critical ED to ED transfers) the profit generated per transfer is about $4,000.
By leveraging the transfer center management capabilities that ForeFront provides, hospitals are able to increase the number of transfers they bring into and keep inside their system. With this increase in the number of transfers handled, costs associated with the implementation of ForeFront can be reclaimed in a matter of weeks, even with transfers to a single 400 bed facility.
One of our clients tracked an increase in admissions generated by the transfer center over the first year that generated over 1.3 million dollars during the first year of operation, and nearly 3 million during the second year. Another client tracked increased admissions during the first three months of operation, and with one division reporting a 6% increase, with a decrease in leakage. Many more examples exist. We have even heard from competitors of our clients that their admissions have dropped significantly after a transfer center using Central Logic technology.
